My first attempt to do something different is worth putting up if only as an example of going too far with stroke (or other things, if they aren't working, instead of moving on) -- the idea was that cursive 's's already look knotted, so I used those -- but the end look is something more like a cross between a snowflake and a tangled old-fashioned telephone cord...
As always, my favorite, last - particularly proud of how everything got finagled well enough to fit snugly on all sides:
